Tommy attended the University of Stellenbosch and studied B.Sc in Geology and Geography. Tommy then obtained a Master’s in Town and Regional Planning and qualified as a Town and Regional Planner in 1980 and was registered with the Council for Town and Regional Planners in 1984.
Tommy’s career started at the City of Cape Town working in the statutory planning division under Ivan Speed and Peter de Tolly. Having learnt about the systems at the Council he joined Dawid du Plooy at VKE Engineers and Planners and worked with them for 5 years. From there he joined Tim Turner in a partnership until 1994 when he decided to establish his own town planning practice which has grown from strength to strength. Moving from Pinelands in 2016 to the Bo-kaap the firm now has 5 registered town planners and 2 planners in training.
Tommy is an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a passion for new challenges and adventures.
The practice has been selective in the type of planning work undertaken and has focussed on development control and land use management. Clients include listed property funds, private property developers, property owners and institutions.
